206th Block of 96A Avenue (Walnut Grove)July 23, 2000

I extend my sincere appreciation to all the residents of the 206th block on 96A Avenue who took the time on July 23, 2000 to give me their input and perspective on key issues facing the Township. I knocked on 18 doors. The residents of 12 homes answered. This is what they had to say.

From your perspective as a taxpayer and resident, what are the top 3 issues in the Township of Langley?
  • 200th Street is a nightmare; fix/finish it (Note: 67% of respondents identified this)
  • the speed on 96th Ave is too fast (Note: 25% of respondents identified this)
  • there are too many checkstops and not enough speed traps on 96th Ave
  • please slow down the traffic on 206th St.; many small children live here and the traffic is too fast
  • start planning for the future not just next week
  • there's too much growth in Walnut Grove
  • put a left turn light onto 96th Ave from 206th St.
  • add a traffic circle at 206th St and 96A Ave.
  • there's too much crime; we need more community youth programs for 13 to 17 year olds
  • a bridge to Maple Ridge
  • get rid of the $75 Translink fee
  • don't increase taxes
  • keep our natural habitat

  • excellent response so far from the Township
  • the 200th St interchange is a fiasco
  • we need a Dairy Queen in Walnut Grove
  • cut the grass on the 96th Ave boulevard between 206th & 208th
  • where's the cardboard recycling bin gone (from the Park & Ride site)?
  • get rid of the lagoon in front of my house - I didn't buy waterfront property!
